Privy Counsel Pin-Up - Now with 50 % Less Creepiness

We've been making quite a big deal of our recent gender equality campaign, congratulating ourselves on posting a picture of a girl Privy Counsel Pin-Up. This was, in our opinion, an achievement, as 75 % of our previous Pin-Ups had been male (and, we may mention, a roaring success, indicating continued male Pin-Up dominance). But one must do one's bit to promote equality between the sexes. The problem is that pictures of men in bath-tubs are infinitely more humorous than pictures of women in bath-tubs, and also, the latter often have a tendency towards creepiness. And creepiness, as our regular readers will know, is not what the Privy Counsel is about. Be that as it may, however, we luckily came across a Privy Counsel Pin-Up-worthy picture, the gender-equality levels of which were through the roof! Through the roof, people!

Hurrah! Howard from The Big Bang Theory, and Starbuck
from Battlestar Galactica! In a totally uncreepy situation!

Well, we're off to grab our gun and bring the cat in. It really needs a bath.

A Rapturous Who-Dunnyt from Australian Friend

Australian Friend, reminiscing over her travels round Britain last year, fondly remembers the toilets (and burgers) at Byron Burger in Haymarket, London. We remember this special friend remarking, at the time, "Just discovered the cleanest toilets in central London. Best part is that they're playing 'Land of Hope and Glory' in there".

Says Australian Friend: "This dunny was amazing. Impeccably clean, shiny, and with brand spanking new technology (the drier was superb). I fully recommend this toilet. The burgers are brilliant as well."
Althohugh this is all very stylish, we naturally cannot approve
of these perverted taps (see "Taps" and also "Rant").

This looks very much like a Cylon device and as such renders us apprehensive. Also, although Australian Friend found it "very effective", it looks like bog-standard unhygienic dryer, and not the Privy Counsel-approved kind (see "Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Loo-Roll Holders (But Were Afraid to Ask)").

Australian Friend describes this as "DELICIOUS".

Toilet Paper and Politics: Of Course They're Related

Continuing our frantic, time-starved existence, we are once more turning to a favourite tv show for inspiration for a blog update. In the Battlestar Galactica episode Exodus: Part 1, president Gaius Baltar reminisces:

Well, let me tell you about my day. It was a hoot. Had the most fascinating chat with one of the Dorals. He's got this theory about sanitation being the key to regaining human trust and confidence. Something about toilet paper. No, lack of toilet paper, that's it. How if people could only wipe their bums properly, there would be a measurable uptick in the polls.

Is this theory, in fact, transferable to real-world politics?

For those of you who have not yet passed out due to boredom, here is more Battlestar Galactica-related hygiene trivia:

Katee Sackhoff's hygiene woes

Make your own toilet roll viper plane! (Or, if you're German, wiper plane.)

Some lucky bastard bought one of the Battlestar Galactica toilet doors at auction!

Battlestar Galactica toilet paper!

Now, when is somebody going to get their arse in gear and design
a toilet seat in the shape of a Cylon raider?

Café Treff, Ambleside: The Best Toilet in England!

Café Treff is a gem of a café, situated in the centre of Ambleside. We have long regarded the toilet here as the best in the country.

We have been coming to the Lake District for years but, not being enthusiastic to the point of hysteria about trudging up hills in hail storms, pouring rain, blizzards and various other unpleasant phenomena caused by the weather gods' tantrums, we tend to end up enjoying the friendly atmosphere of this very cosy establishment instead.

The cheesy vaseline effect on the camera lens is actually caused by cold, wet weather

According to the website, the pleasant, light interior, rich in natural wood, is explained by the owners' wish to recreate the feel of an Austrian café. This is a welcome sight in a country populated almost exclusively by people suffering from a pathological inability to abstain from ruining perfectly good wood by applying a variety of ghastly stains and paints.

The toilet, like the rest of the café, is light and airy. The tiles are white and extremely clean, as indeed are the toilet and the sink.

So clean! And look - oh! joy of joys! - a mixer tap!
A laudable eco-consciousness governs the fittings: a motion sensor turns the lights on as you enter; the excellent mixer tap has a water-saving airstream, still rare in Britain; the paper towels are strong, which fact, combined with a clever dispenser, reduces the need or indeed ability to use too many; and the bin bears a notice saying the contents are recycled. All highly commendable!

An excellent paper-towel dispenser

Nappy users go home!

The soap is pleasantly scented and comes from a Katrin dispenser, like the toilet paper (which is plain white). Most Katrin products have been awarded the Green Swan eco label.

A totally gratuitous picture - pure titillation!

More gratuitousness. The design of this tap is somehow reminiscent of Battlestar Galactica!

Unfortunately there is no coat-hook, but on the other hand the door opens outwards, which means that it is easy to open without touching!

Points: 9/15
